The six piece Yrden extension is particularly good. The enhanced Griffin armour becomes available at level 18.Īnd, if you want to take the Griffin school all the way to Grandmaster level, then the bonuses for wearing multiple pieces are decent. The weapons are particularly good at low level too.
This time, though, I thought I’d give the Griffin set a try and it’s a good intermediary medium armour. The alternative at low levels is a hotch-potch of other armours (crafted or not), or buy a ready-made set (like the Nilfgaardian set from the Quartermaster at Crow’s Perch), which is what I did in my previous two playthroughs. My answer to that would be: yes, the Griffin school armour and weapons are worth crafting. So is it worth crafting the Griffin set, or should you wait until you can get Cat, Wolf, or Bear armour instead? The lowest of the Witcher armour schools. Wolf was 14 for crafting, Cat and Bear were 17. The Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear quest was level 11 for me. The Griffin School Gear is probably the first Witcher armour you’ll find diagrams for, and possibly the first serious armour you’ll craft in The Witcher 3.
